Tips for Volunteers

The primary goal of the Hunger Cleanup is to raise money for programs fighting hunger and homelessness. The event also has the added benefit of providing critically needed community service work for local agencies and organizations. Through fundraising, volunteers will not only have an impact on the day of the Cleanup, but also into the future as well. Many organizations depend on these kinds of fundraisers in order to survive.

Below you will find guidelines for how to easily raise $100 in just one week.

Contact Family and Friends:
Your friends, family, and people you know will want to get involved with the Hunger Cleanup because they care about the issues of hunger and homelessness, and they'll be even more excited to get involved with a contribution because you're the person asking them to make a donation. Our biggest tip is to ask everyone. Not everyone will be able to make a contribution, so asking everyone to make a donation will ensure that you hit your goals!

The absolute best way for friends, family, professors, co-workers, etc., to support the Hunger Cleanup is by donating online. To send out a fundraising email, just log in to your account on this website. You can send out a personal email to as many people as you want, encouraging them to visit the site and donate via credit card. This secure online donation system will enable you to get dozens of people involved, no matter how far away they live. You and your school's Cleanup will get credit for the donation, and you won't have to worry about keeping track of checks or cash that people send to you!

Here are some examples for how you can easily raise $100 or more!

  • Send out the first email the week that you sign up for the Hunger Cleanup.
  • Send out the reminder email one week before the Hunger Cleanup.
  • For people who don't use email, call them or talk to them in person about giving.
  • Since everyone might not be able to give, ask as many people as possible.
